What is a Precinct Chair?
Precinct chairs are elected officials within the Republican Party who serve as the party’s representative in their precinct. They are the foundation of our grassroots organization and play a vital role in building Republican strength at the local level.
Responsibilities
As a precinct chair, you will:
- Attend Monthly Meetings - Participate in monthly county executive committee meetings
- Build Your Precinct - Get to know Republican voters in your precinct and keep them engaged
- Organize Volunteers - Recruit and coordinate volunteers for campaigns and events
- Get Out the Vote - Help ensure Republican voters turn out on election day
- Represent Your Community - Serve as a voice for your precinct in party decisions

How to Become a Precinct Chair
Current Vacancies
Many precincts across Brazos County currently have vacant precinct chair positions. If your precinct is vacant, you can be appointed to the position.
To apply:
- Complete the Precinct Chair Application form below
- Submit the form to the county chairman
- Your application will be reviewed by the executive committee
- If approved, you’ll be appointed as precinct chair
Election Process
Precinct chairs are officially elected during the party primary election held every even-numbered year. If you’re interested in running for precinct chair:
- File your application with the Republican Party of Texas during the filing period (typically December-January)
- Campaign in your precinct
- Win the primary election in March
